Australia plans USD3.58 billion investment in drones and C-UAS systems

The Australian government has announced its new 2026 National Defence Strategy, which includes spending of up to AUD5 billion (USD3.58 billion) on drones and counter-drone systems.

The government will invest an additional AUD14 billion over the next four years and AUD 53 billion over the next 10 years in the 2026 Integrated Investment Program.

Key components of the new strategy include accelerating the introduction of integrated air and missile defence capabilities; expanding the adoption of autonomous and uncrewed systems across the land, air and maritime domains; and fielding counter-uncrewed air systems to protect Australian sites, events and critical infrastructure.
