Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has successfully completed a trial of its SPYDER air defence system, the company said in a press release.
According to Rafael, the trial, conducted in Israel, involved multiple scenarios designed to simulate current and future aerial threats. The company said the system, equipped with I-DERBY ER and I-DERBY LR missiles, successfully intercepted multiple targets, including low-radar-signature unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), using hit-to-kill engagements.
Rafael said the trial also incorporated upgrades based on operational experience and lessons learned from recent conflicts, with the aim of enhancing the system’s ability to address evolving aerial threats.
The SPYDER system is a mobile air defence system based on Rafael’s PYTHON and I-DERBY air-to-air missiles and is designed to intercept a range of aerial threats. The company said the system has been selected by several European countries, including Romania and the Czech Republic, for national air defence programmes.
