Canadian defence company 49North has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ukrainian counter-drone manufacturer UNWAVE to collaborate on the joint production and support of counter-uncrewed aircraft systems (C-UAS).
The partnership aims to combine 49North’s defence programme integration and engineering support capabilities with UNWAVE’s counter-drone technology to address Ukraine’s defence requirements.
49North, a subsidiary of MDA Space, said the agreement aligns with the joint declaration on enhanced defence and security cooperation between Canada and Ukraine announced on 10 September 2026.
The companies plan to work together on production and long-term support for counter-drone systems. The announcement did not specify which systems would be produced, production locations or a delivery timeline.
