ASTM International is developing a proposed standard to help uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) manufacturers incorporate human factors requirements into ground control station design.
The standard, designated WK90326, will set minimum requirements covering remote pilot interfaces, alerts, display formatting, controls, situational awareness and workload.
ASTM said the guidance is intended to address a gap in understanding how existing human factors standards apply to ground control station design, particularly among smaller UAS developers and manufacturers. It will consolidate relevant requirements and explain how they should be applied.
