Kongsberg’s drone detection radar joins INTERPOL test at Gardermoen Airport

INTERPOL recently hosted a counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) technology test at Gardermoen Airport in Norway.

At the event, Kongsberg demonstrated its Drone Detection Radar (DR 100), which was mounted in a quad-radar configuration on a deployable pickup platform. The DR 100 was assigned an Area of Responsibility by INTERPOL and became fully operational within five minutes of arrival. Using a secure 5G connection, sensor data was transmitted to the Gardermoen control centre to provide real-time situational awareness.

The exercise focused exclusively on the detection, tracking and classification of airborne objects. Kongsberg’s DR 100 operates without filtering out low-altitude targets, enabling detection of low-flying drones. The system also classifies vehicles and personnel.

Kinetic and non-kinetic effectors were outside the scope of the test, but Kongsberg noted that the DR 100 is already being integrated into wider C-UAS ecosystems.

The latest issue of the 2026 Unmanned Airspace Global Counter-UAS Systems Directory is now available. The guide is the world’s only comprehensive, continually updated directory of global C-UAS companies and systems. It itemises over 1,000 C-UAS products and services with performance details, company sales and partnerships arrangements. It is updated every month and broken down into niche sub-sectors (net-capture, missiles, intercept drones, detectors etc) to give C-UAS procurement and industry personnel a unique perspective of global C-UAS technical capabilities and market positions. It is available in word, PDF and excel formats and Unmanned Airspace readers are eligible for a range of discounts.
