ANRA Technologies has been selected by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for four research projects focused on the integration of drones and advanced air mobility (AAM) into the National Airspace System.
The projects will examine four areas: UTM-ATM integration, vertiport digital flight procedures, common altitude reference and AI-based drone classification.
The research will involve collaboration with organisations including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Virginia Tech’s Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership and the University of Nevada, Reno.
The projects address several technical and operational challenges associated with scaling increasingly complex drone and AAM operations, including coordination between uncrewed traffic management and conventional air traffic management systems, and the development of digital procedures for vertiport operations.
