French space surveillance company Look Up plans to deploy six additional SORASYS radars across France’s overseas territories as part of a more than EUR100 million investment programme.
The planned network will include two radars in French Polynesia and one in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, alongside further installations planned for French Guiana, Réunion and New Caledonia. Look Up aims to operate seven radars globally by 2030, including its existing installation in Lozère.
The SORASYS radars are designed to detect and track satellites and debris in low Earth orbit at altitudes of up to 2,000 km, including in daytime, nighttime and adverse weather conditions.
In French Polynesia, Look Up is deploying two SORASYS radars at sites in Tahiti, representing an investment of EUR30 million. The company signed a hosting agreement with Tahiti Nui Telecom in January 2026, with the project co-funded by EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (EU SST).
Look Up is also developing a EUR20 million SORASYS 3 installation in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. The company said the North Atlantic site will extend the geographical coverage of its radar network.
Look Up said the six overseas installations are intended to provide additional orbital data for defence organisations, institutions, space agencies and commercial satellite operators.
