Ukraine has used the SPYS interceptor drone against a Russian jet-powered Geran-5, according to footage published by German Aid to Ukraine and reported by Militarnyi.
Developed by WIY Drones and associated with the German-Ukrainian Quantum WIY Industries joint venture, SPYS is designed to counter high-speed aerial threats and can reach speeds of up to 600 km/h, according to its developers.
The interceptor has a reported flight time of five minutes, a 300-gram warhead and an engagement range of up to 12 km. It uses Ukrainian-made Motor-G engines and is designed specifically to address the growing challenge posed by jet-powered attack drones.
The system remains in combat testing, with the reported Geran-5 engagement representing one of its first documented interceptions.
