Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said yesterday (June 11) that it has discussed the possibility of France supplying SAMP/T NG systems to Ukraine. The systems, produced by the eurosam alliance of Thales and MBDA, are designed to intercept and destroy hostile drones, aircraft and ballistic missiles.
The two countries have “agreed to examine this matter further to ensure that support for Ukraine’s air defence is as effective as possible”, the ministry said.
The parties also discussed support for radar procurement through the European Union loan facility before the end of this year.
In addition, Ukraine and Germany are advancing efforts to expedite the delivery of critical air defence munitions. The focus of support is on PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, munitions for IRIS-T, and the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism.
