Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is consulting on a draft advisory circular (AC) for the Australian Specific Operations Risk Assessment (AusSORA) framework to better support risk assessments for drone operations.
The draft AC adapts elements of the JARUS SORA 2.5 framework to Australian conditions. It explains proposed changes to ground risk assessment, containment and operational safety objectives as well as outlines a proposed adjacent area assessment method and how integrity and assurance requirements may apply in future.
These updates are intended to make the assessment process clearer and more consistent.
CASA is seeking industry feedback by March 26 before finalising the AC. If adopted, the AC would replace TMI 2024-03 and form the basis for future AusSORA assessments.
