HENSOLDT has received European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI) orders from Diehl Defence worth over EUR100 million as part of the German European Sky Shield Initiative. The company is supplying additional TRML-4D high-performance radars, including a maintenance and training package, to various European countries. The radars will be used in the ESSI countries as part of Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T SLM air defence system.
“The TRML-4D air defence radar has demonstrated exceptionally good reconnaissance performance in Ukraine, among other places,” said the company in a press release. “It is based on the latest AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology and ensures the rapid detection and tracking of around 1,500 targets within a radius of up to 250 kilometres. It is capable of quickly and reliably detecting, tracking and classifying all types of air targets – cruise missiles, rockets, drones and aircraft – for combat.”
