The BLU-Space (Blueprint U-space) project has been selected as a finalist for the German Mobility Industry Innovation Award by the German Transport Science Society.
BLU-Space is piloting the implementation of an uncrewed traffic management system. This is taking place under real conditions and in urban, controlled airspace in Hamburg. The resulting blueprints are intended to serve as a benchmark for the nationwide designation of U-Space airspace.
The awards selection acknowledges the progress BLU-Space has made in safely integrating BVLOS automated drone flights into shared airspace. The project is one of three in the Products/Projects category. The winner will be announced on November 11.
BLU-Space consists of a multidisciplinary consortium of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS), HHLA Sky Hamburg, Hamburg Port Authority AöR and Karl Koerschulte GmbH. The consortium leader is Hamburg Aviation e.V.
