Helicus’ cargo drone crosses river at Port of Antwerp-Bruges

Helicus has flown a river-crossing commercial logistics drone flight in Belgium. A 3-metre uncrewed aircraft weighing 52 kg, connected two industrial sites on the left and right banks of the river Scheldt in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges area.

The flight was conducted within the future U-space airspace, using validated procedures and digital services that ensure safe flights. Helicus says the flight demonstrates how drones can solve logistics bottlenecks, cut emissions and integrate into industrial supply chains.

The operation supports the SAFIR-Ready project, validating new technology, operational processes and legislation for drone logistics in Europe.

Helicus announced in March that it had begun cargo drone validation flights in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
