Amazon is seeking a permit from the Texas city of San Antonio to launch its drone delivery service, Prime Air, local media reports.
According to a report in the San Antonio Express, Amazon is looking to “renovate a 9,400-square-foot space at the southeast corner of the 3.6 million-square-foot facility at 6806 Cal Turner Drive for a drone delivery centre, which would have launch pads for drone takeoff and landing along with space for storing and charging drone batteries, monitoring flights and maintaining drones”.
Amazon told the newspaper that it is aiming to launch drone delivery from the warehouse by the end of this year and that the process is in the early planning stages.
