Padova Sandbox demonstrates hydrogen-powered drone delivery in Italy

The Padova Sandbox project, which envisions the use of hydrogen-powered drones for the transport of medical goods, hosted a test session on May 6 at the Milani company headquarters in Osnago, Italy.

The experimental project, launched in 2025 at Padua Airport, stems from the cooperation agreement for the development of advanced air mobility signed by Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC, the Veneto Region and the SAVE Group. A multidisciplinary ENAC team, composed of Engineers Catalano, Poleggi, Autunno, Terenziani and Colonel Levante, was present at the May 6 demonstration.

During the event, the features of the first KEB (Key Energy Builder) for the production, storage and delivery of green hydrogen, built by H2C SpA, were demonstrated. The focus of the day was the operational demonstration by H2G, a division of the H2C Group, which ENAC said “provided tangible proof of the technology’s effectiveness” by successfully refueling a logistics vehicle with hydrogen.
