UAE logistics company Jeebly and drone delivery company Skye Air Mobility have conducted a three-week long Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone delivery trial in Dubai, according to media reports.
The flights delivered a range of consumer goods within the Dubai Silicon Oasis area using Skye Air Mobility’s Skye Ship One. This is equipped with onboard navigation systems, connectivity and parachute capabilities.
The testing took place at the Dubai Experimental Zone in DSO. The zone serves as a real-world test-bed for the development, evaluation and demonstration of robotics and autonomous systems. It was established as part of the Dubai Programme to Enable Drone Transportation launched in November 2021 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.
