Drone Delivery Services flies hydrogen-powered drone BVLOS to test 5G and 6G

Drone Delivery Services has announced a successful beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) test flight with a hydrogen-powered drone in the Netherlands.

During the flight, 5G/6G network technology from Odido Netherlands, Ericsson and TNO was tested in a drone on a predetermined route of 11 kilometers between Groningen and Appingedam.The drone was equipped with advanced measuring equipment to collect crucial data for testing 6G. The connection for the control took place entirely via the mobile network.

The flight was part of the National Growth Fund’s Future Network Services project. The team are planning a flight from Assen to Groningen for the next phase of the project and will eventually also fly over densely populated areas.
