UK-US partnership to work closer together on space regulatory processes

UK Transport Secretary Grant Schapps and US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have signed a landmark declaration on space regulation that will allow the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the US Federal Aviation Administration to work closer together on efficient space regulation and management processes.

Colin Macleod, Head of UK Space Regulation at the CAA, said: “Greater alignment of our licensing regimes is a further step in enabling a safe and growing spaceflight industry”.

The UK is preparing for its first space launch from UK soil in Summer 2022.
