Ireland issues guidance on calculating and defining risk for operations in the specific category

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has issued guidance on Defining Flight Geography, Contingency Volume, and Ground Risk Buffer for Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) operations.

The purpose of the document is to provide guidance on accurately calculating, defining, and presenting volumes and areas to obtain operational authorisation applications in the specific category, according to Regulation (EU) 2019/947. These require the definition of an operational volume (flight geography and contingency volume), and a ground risk buffer.
