Ukrainian app aims to fill gaps in low-level radar coverage by reporting drones

Ukraine is rolling out an app that that allows citizens to report sightings of drones, cruise missiles and anything else they might see flying overhead, says a report by sUAS News. The app is in response to Russian air attacks over Ukraine. The app is available from the Google play store.

The app was built by the Technari Design Group, in conjunction with the South Air Force, with the aim of filling gaps in low-level radar coverage, says the report. It adds a similar concept was used during WWII when the Royal Observer Corps detected German aircraft on their way to targets in England and telephoned in their details to command centres.
