After recently advertising for an uncrewed aerial system (UAS) regulatory expert in Australia, Amazon Prime Air has turned its attention to Europe.
The company is looking for an EU Head of Regulatory Approvals – Drone Delivery who will “own the EU regulatory approval programme end to end, from first authority conversation to authorisation granted”.
The listing notes that Prime Air is bringing drone delivery to Europe and needs someone to secure the approvals that make it legal to fly.
The successful applicant will be Amazon’s named point of contact with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and national aviation authorities, sign submissions and be responsible for both the operational and the airworthiness sides of each application. They will build the safety cases and manage the in-country consultants who support them. Specific responsibilities include ground risk assessment, SAIL determination, operational safety objective compliance and the environmental evaluations each application needs.
Amazon adds that after securing initial authorisations it intends to scale across EU member states.
