MBDA and Polish research institute WITU are working to develop a counter mass interceptor (CMI). The supersonic missile is being designed to engage aerial threats at ranges and altitudes of over 6km.
The two organisations plan to launch an initial CMI firing campaign in 2027. To prepare for this, WITU and MBDA recently jointly completed a set of field trials at a test range in Poland where the seeker system’s performance was tested across a spectrum of use-cases, including a number of representative drone target types.
MBDA said that the successful completion of this trial enables the collaboration to move forward with the joint integration of the seeker into a prototype missile designed by WITU.
