Danish companies Terma and MyDefence have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore closer cooperation across defence technologies. The first step will combine the companies’ complementary counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) capabilities, with further areas of cooperation to be explored later.
The companies said in a press release that the Danish defence industry “needs to work more closely together if Denmark and Europe are to strengthen their position in the face of a rapidly evolving threat landscape and field new technology more quickly”.
The first step will be the integration of Terma’s SCANTER Sphera radar technology with MyDefence’s RF-based sensors, jammers and IRIS C2 system, bringing multiple sensor technologies together in a single integrated C-UAS system.
MyDefence’s RF sensors are designed to detect and identify radio signals from drones and their operators, while radar adds an additional layer of detection of the drones in flight and can help detect autonomous drones or drones operating without a conventional radio link.
The companies will explore further joint solutions, including maritime platforms and space and satellite technology.
