Powerus to protect oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East from UAS threats

Autonomous Power Corporation (Powerus) has secured a contract valued at approximately USD 22.3 million to provide networked counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) detection, tracking, classification and early-warning capabilities to help protect critical oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East.

The system will provide a unified operational picture through command and control capabilities located at the customer’s operations centre, enabling operators to identify, track and assess potential UAS threats across their operating environment. The system architecture is designed to support the further integration of Powerus’ Guardian interceptor technology as operational requirements evolve.

Several Middle Eastern countries have reported drone attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in recent months amid escalating tensions in the region. Earlier this month, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a refinery in Saudi Arabia, and in March, an oil storage facility in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates reported that it had been targeted.
