A drone integration demonstration is set to take place at AERO South Africa 2026 later this week, where a DJI FlyCart 30 heavy-lift drone will conduct live flights at Lanseria International Airport using certified ADS-B surveillance technology.
According to the African Drone Forum, the demonstration, led by SSASS Holdings in partnership with Hussar Security & Defense Solutions, will see drone equipped with a uAvionix ping20Si Mode S ADS-B transponder, enabling it to operate as a fully cooperative participant within controlled airspace.
“The live flights will demonstrate how drones can be electronically visible to air traffic surveillance systems by transmitting real-time position, altitude, identity and velocity data,” the African Drone Forum said. “Visitors will also be able to track the aircraft on uAvionix’s FlightLine™ Air Traffic Surveillance System alongside general aviation aircraft, business jets and helicopters operating around Lanseria.”
