Drone Major, olee.space partner to provide UK critical infrastructure with laser C-UAS defences

The UK’s Drone Major consultancy has announced a partnership with defence photonics company, olee.space, to enhance UK’s anti-drone capabilities. The new technology uses high-power fibre lasers to counter intruding drones, costing less than UKP1 per drone intercepted, and provide a cost-effective solution to the proliferation of low-cost drones that conventional air defence cannot sustainably counter, say the companies.

“Drone Major has acquired exclusive rights to integrate and sell the system, designed by olee.space, to the UK, US and EU markets. Access to the technology will enhance British counter-drone capabilities and develop the UK’s production capacity to manufacture systems vital to the protection of Critical National Infrastructure including airports, the energy sector, armed forces, air forces, naval forces, border security agencies, and other Critical National Infrastructure,” says Drone Major.

The counter-drone system combines multiple lasers to produce a single, highly focused beam capable of travelling at the speed of light and engaging targets at ranges up to 6 km. The system is designed to be integrable with any tracking and detection system in the world – radar, electro-optical/infrared sensors, or multi-spectral – making it a versatile “plug-and-play” technology that can pair with existing sensor infrastructure. It has been extensively field-tested by the Indian Armed Forces across desert, maritime, mountain, and tropical environments and validated in mobile configurations, including integration with infrastructure and uncrewed ground vehicles, ships, and helicopters, says the company.

The 2026 Unmanned Airspace Global Counter-UAS Systems Directory is now available. The Guide is the world’s only comprehensive, continually updated directory of global C-UAS companies and systems. It itemises over 1,000 C-UAS products and services with performance details, company sales and partnerships arrangements. It is updated every month and broken down into niche sub-sectors (net-capture, missiles, intercept drones, detectors etc) to give C-UAS procurement and industry personnel a unique perspective of global C-UAS technical capabilities and market positions. It is available in word, PDF and excel formats and Unmanned Airspace readers are eligible for a range of discounts. For more information about the Directory please contact the editor Philip Butterworth-Hayes at philip@unmannedairspace.info.
