US nuclear agency intends to acquire Nomad C-UAS systems

The United States National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), an agency within the Department of Energy, intends to award an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to Nomad Global Communication Solutions for counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) equipment.

The C-UAS systems will be subject to field integration, testing and validation. If successful, NNSA expects to place an order for multiple systems.

The system will be required to detect, track, identify, mitigate and defeat rogue drones.

In a partially-redacted intent to sole source notice, NNSA said Nomad is the only manufacturer at this time with the capability to provide the required system with “integrated command, control, power management and support capabilities” and “dual defeat redundancy” and with a 12-year structural warranty.

Nomad GCS announced a merger with Kratos Defense & Security Solutions on February 24, 2026.
