EASA expands approved drone list and updates IAM Hub

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has updated its official list of drones approved for operation within the European Union.

The list covers drones eligible for operation in both the open and specific (standard scenario) categories. The drones are labelled C0-C4 for the open category and C5 and C6 for the specific category. The labelling subcategorises the drone, which determines aspects such as where it may be operated and the limitations that apply. This C-label classification may be subject to review in line with the European Commission’s recent drone and counter-drone strategy.

EASA has also added a new drone rule navigator and population density map to its Innovative Air Mobility Hub. A digital environment enabling users to complete the SORA process and determine the risk level of an operation has also been added.
