US Army issues sources sought notice for kinetic C-UAS industry day

The United States Army Contracting Command-New Jersey on behalf of the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center, located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, has issued a Sources Sought Notice (SSN) as a means of conducting market research to identify potential sources with an interest in supporting the development of kinetic counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) equipment and technology.

The results of the US Army’s research will contribute to determining the scope of further development and potential development partners.

“The Army is pursuing C-UAS concepts for several key reasons, stemming from an evolving threat landscape and a need for adaptable defensive capabilities,” the SSN states. “The Army requires a C-UAS capability that can be adapted to a variety of missions and environments. Developing a modular platform-agnostic system allows for the integration of diverse countermeasures tailored to specific threats.”

The Army seeks information on the specific modality of defeat, such as gun/munition-based, Interceptor UAS, etc. It is also looking for information on tested or predicted capabilities, such as defeat ranges, cost-per-kill, and stowed kills (magazine depth) as well as data on the Technology Readiness Level and overall maturity of the design. A description of the size, weight, power, and cost of the overall system and effectors is also required as is a description of potential collateral damage effects of the system.

In addition, information on interoperability with Command & Control (C2) systems, C-UAS detection and tracking sensors, mobility platforms and other weapon systems is sought, as is data on safety features, protocols and architectures critical for safe and reliable operation, including fail-safe mechanisms and hazard mitigation strategies.

DEVCOM AC is hosting an in-person one-day Industry Day event on March 24, 2026 to discuss current C-UAS concepts and technologies. Government stakeholders involved in C-UAS capability development will be in attendance. The morning session will feature presentations outlining key aspects of the C-UAS mission, including user needs, design considerations, mission constraints and relevant safety considerations. The afternoon will be dedicated to a panel discussion with government experts, providing industry partners with an opportunity to ask questions regarding the current approach to C-UAS concepts.

Registration will be limited to US-based companies and may be limited due to facility size restrictions. Registration requests must be submitted by March 6, 2026.

The Unmanned Airspace Global Counter-UAS Systems Directory is the world’s only comprehensive, continually updated directory of global C-UAS companies and systems. It itemises over 1,000 C-UAS products and services with performance details, company sales and partnerships arrangements. It is updated every month and broken down into niche sub-sectors (net-capture, missiles, intercept drones, detectors etc) to give C-UAS procurement and industry personnel a unique perspective of global C-UAS technical capabilities and market positions. It is available in word, PDF and excel formats and Unmanned Airspace readers are eligible for a range of discounts.
