Embention, a developer of autopilot systems and safety-critical avionics for autonomous aerial vehicles—both unmanned (UAS) and manned (eVTOLs)—has been officially approved by the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) as a Production Organization Approval (POA), under approval number ES.21G.0038. This certification is granted under European Regulation 748/2012, Annex I (Part 21), which governs initial airworthiness and environmental protection of aviation products.
“This milestone positions Embention as the first specialized manufacturer in the world certified under POA regulations in Europe to produce autopilots for drones and eVTOLs, reinforcing its leadership in the fast-growing autonomous aviation market,” said the company in a press release. “The POA certification issued by AESA—within the regulatory framework of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)—confirms that the company meets the highest standards in quality, traceability, team qualification, and aerospace production process control.
“This recognition strengthens the trust of both clients and institutions in Embention’s products and represents a key enabler for the widespread deployment of autonomous solutions across sectors such as defense, aerial logistics, emergency response, precision agriculture, and urban air mobility.
“More than a regulatory formality, this approval is a strategic leap forward in the advancement of unmanned and autonomous aviation…. paving the way for certified avionics products and the safe integration of autonomous technologies into shared airspace. This milestone also supports the development of next-generation systems such as air taxis—essential for the evolution of urban air mobility and the broader future of autonomous transportation.
