SkeyDrone to monitor skies over Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival

SkeyDrone will again deploy its drone detection technology at the Tomorrowland music festival this summer. At last year’s festival, SkeyDrone detected more than 1000 drone flights in the airspace above the event in Boom, Belgium.

This year, all drone pilots must request flight authorisation via the SkeyDrone Planner before operating in the Tomorrowland geozone. Drone flights over or near the festival area will only be authorised if operated by Tomorrowland staff, official contractors or the police. Other drone operators must provide a valid justification for flying in the remaining areas of the geozone. Requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance via the SkeyDrone Planner application. Drones must remain in visual sight of the operator at all time, and the drone must have remote identification activated and be equipped with a geo-awareness system.

The temporary geozone above the festival site will be active on the following dates:
– from 17/07/2025 7.00 CET until 21/07/2025 14.00 CET
– from 24/07/2025 7.00 CET until 28/07/2025 14.00 CET

For permitted drone flights, the pilot must hold an A2 certificate of remote pilot competency or higher, and all instructions by the police and the Tomorrowland Flight Coordinator must be followed. The drone pilot must have two-way radio communication with the coordination team during the flight. Attendance at the mandatory operational briefings is required for all drone pilots.

Non-compliance will lead to exclusion from further drone operations in the geozone.
