Australia’s EOS and RICO “demonstrate remote, long-range counter-drone engagement”

Australia’s Electro Optic Systems (EOS) and the Robotic and Autonomous Systems Implementation & Coordination Office (RICO) report they have reached “a significant milestone in their collaboration, demonstrating the advanced long-range firing capabilities and precision of EOS’ R400 remote weapon system (RWS).”

From EOS’ facility in Canberra, “the team remotely controlled the RWS integrated on a modified M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed at the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Puckapunyal Military Area, approximately 550 kilometres away, successfully engaging targets at distances of 300 and 600 metres.

“Following the demonstration, EOS conducted a qualification training session for five ADF students at Puckapunyal, where they remotely operated the RWS. The session concluded with a live-fire counter-drone demonstration, with two students successfully engaging both stationary and moving drone targets at distances of up to 500 metres.
