Italy demonstrates drone missions and services in multiple cities as part of U-ELCOME research

The U-ELCOME project demonstrations’ Italian cluster, led by ENAV, has kickstarted its drone flight campaign with various UAS operators conducting operational missions across Italy, benefitting from d-flight’s U-space services.

From 9 to 13 October, missions including emergency response, search and rescue, solar panel inspection and territory surveillance took place in locations like Gorizia, Trieste, Mantua, and Caserta. U-space services, including network identification, geo-awareness, UAS flight authorisation and traffic information, supported operators and pilots. Additional flight activities are planned for the coming months and through 2024 and 2025 until project completion.

U-ELCOME is a three-year project coordinated by the Eurocontrol Innovation Hub and funded by CINEA in cooperation with SESAR 3 JU. It aims to pioneer the U1 and U2 service levels in Italy, Spain, and France.
