Swiss regulator brings specific operations risk assessment (SORA) authorisations in line with EU law

The Swiss regulator, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), has published an Alternative Means of Compliance that permits the use of a modified Step 9 of the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) included in regulations laid down by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This Alternative Means of Compliance allows drone operators to perform operations in the ‘Specific’ category with a strong reduction in the applicability of enhanced containment and will so again ease the deployment of operations at scale which is especially important in the context of the deployment of the EU Regulation in Switzerland.

The Alternative Means of Compliance issued by FOCA is in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 2019/947 (UAS) and Regulation (EU) No 2018/1139. It is applicable to all parties under Swiss jurisdiction.
