Finland’s air navigation service provider Fintraffic Air Navigation Services (Fintraffic ANS) has today launched its national digital platform, Fintraffic Sky, developed in collaboration with AstraUTM, a Thales Company.
“Designed to serve all aviation stakeholders, including pilots, drone operators, and government officials such as Customs and Border Guard authorities, Fintraffic Sky centralizes critical aviation data and services in a single, user-friendly interface,” said the company in a website press release.
In a Linkedin post the company says Fintraffic Sky brings together critical aviation data and services into one intuitive platform, offering services such as real-time airspace visualization; streamlined flight planning and notification tools; integration with Eurocontrol’s EAD & Network Manager; and upcoming aviation weather services from FMI
Fintraffic Sky streamlines the process of filing flight plans and notifying authorities of airspace usage intentions, supporting both manned and unmanned aviation, says the ANSP. The platform provides a real-time situational awareness view of Finland’s airspace, including active flights and reserved zones. According to a website advisory: “The service shall not be use as a sole source in flight or operation planning. NOTAM activation times and other aeronautical data shall be checked from ais.fi.
“The initial architecture of the Fintraffic Sky platform was developed in partnership with Finnish IT consultancy Solita. The UTM software was provided by AstraUTM, a Thales Company, and Fintraffic Sky integrates key features such as real-time airspace visualization.
Fintraffic Sky will expand to include full aviation weather data from the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI). The integration will offer innovative weather tools designed to meet the specific needs of both traditional and unmanned aviation sectors.
“According to Riikka Pusa of FMI at the system’s launch event at Airspace World in Lisbon “It represents a modern, accessible approach to delivering essential meteorological data to all airspace users.”
