Belgian’s skeyes officially certified as a Common Information Service Provider

Belgian’s skeyes has been officially certified as a Common Information Service Provider (CISP).It joins Innov’ATM (certified by the DGAC as a U-space service provider) and ANRA (certified as a U-space service provider by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency) as the first U-space certified stakeholders in Europe.

“In addition to its role as an air traffic controller, skeyes is also a key player in the unmanned aviation sector, said the company in a press release. “skeyes is the first organisation in Europe to operate an automated, interactive platform that enables real-time data exchange between manned and unmanned aviation. The platform collects and enriches all relevant information – including radar images and weather forecasts – and makes it available to all airspace users. This marks a major milestone in the development of economically valuable drone applications.

“This innovative platform brings the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations to life in a practical way. As a recognised CISP, skeyes provides a centralised and reliable solution for safe and efficient communication between traditional aviation pilots and drone operators. Through this platform, skeyes plays a key bridging role between manned and unmanned aviation sectors, ensuring safe and coordinated integration. It is a major step towards a future-proof, integrated airspace management system. Operational drone traffic management is delegated to U-space Service Providers (USSPs).

The official certification ceremony took place at skeyes’ headquarters in Steenokkerzeel, attended by aviation sector representatives, policymakers, and innovators from the drone industry. The CEO of skeyes received the certificate from Ms. Emmanuelle Van Damme, a representative of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). During the event, the platform was symbolically launched followed by a first demonstration flight using a drone connected to the new system.

“This step represents much more than technological progress,” says Johan Decuyper, CEO of skeyes. “It is a vital link in integrating drones into controlled airspace, without compromising the safety of traditional aviation. We are creating the conditions for a drone ecosystem that is both economically relevant and safe – in Belgium and across Europe.”
