Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare has launched a drone delivery programme to transport medicine to remote areas after heavy rain caused widespread road closures in central and southern regions.
The Ministry currently has five drones at its disposal, which are flown beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and navigate using 4G and 5G mobile networks. Each drone can carry up to 3kg.
The launch follows feasibility studies and test flights that were carried out successfully in 2024.
