India moves closer to BVLOS standards following approval for dozens of trial flights

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued approvals for 20 drone consortia to conduct beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) trial flights. Once the companies conclude the trials (at least 100 hrs flight time over approximately three months) and submit the test results, it will lead to the drafting of India’s first BVLOS standards and protocols, in collaboration with academia and industry.
