UTM and drone fleet management company High Lander and telecommunications aviation technology company Dimetor will partner to integrate Dimetor’s proprietary technology into High Lander’s Vega Hub suite of services.
“Specifically, the Vega UTM interface will be enhanced by advanced cellular connectivity and population density displays, providing airspace managers and drone operators with data critical to the success, safety and compliance of their missions,” say the companies in a joint press release.
“Dimetor’s AirborneRF solution is a proprietary altitude-based form of cellular signal analysis. Mobile networks are typically designed to focus on ground-level devices, but Dimetor’s technology creates layered coverage maps considering factors such as antenna tilt, elevation and overlapping cellular footprints. It creates a 3D radio space within which connectivity is most likely to be strongest, enabling operators to gauge the most effective spatial parameters for any given mission. As unbroken cellular connectivity is central to the effective operation and compliance of beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, this capability will strengthen the connection between UAS stakeholders and mobile network operators, and consequently allow for speedy regulatory approvals. Meanwhile, Dimetor’s ground risk feature uses anonymized tracking data to provide real-time population density maps.
