DEXA receives nationwide waiver from FAA for BVLOS deliveries

Drone delivery specialist DEXA (Drone Express) has received a national waiver from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enabling its drones to operate beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) without requiring individual, case-by-case flight approvals from the FAA.

The national BVLOS waiver adds to DEXA’s FAA Airworthiness Certification and Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate.

In addition to serving it enterprise partners, DEXA has built a direct-to-consumer marketplace where customers will be able to order groceries, OTC medications, pet supplies and more through rapid drone delivery without the need to disclose their address.

DEXA said on July 14 that it will continue to work closely with federal and local stakeholders to ensure that safety, compliance and community engagement remain central to its operations. The nationwide BVLOS waiver is expected to help the company’s growth and support new applications in food, retail and time-sensitive logistics.
