On July 14, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will convene the second meeting of Asia-Pacific Regulators on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
The meeting will be attended by 27 Asia-Pacific states and administrations and 20 AAM companies and organisations. Participants will discuss the reference materials for regulators to facilitate AAM operations which have been jointly developed by the Asia-Pacific states and administration since the inaugural meeting in Singapore in November 2023. Such reference materials are intended for submission to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Closed-group industry consultation for these materials was conducted in November 2024 and public industry consultation was conducted in April 2025.
The meeting will also discuss plans to launch electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) operations in the region and how states can work together to facilitate and benefit from these.
“With its many dense urban centres, growing connectivity needs and strong innovation and aviation ecosystem, the Asia-Pacific region is poised to be a key market for Advanced Air Mobility, which will transform the way we work, move, and live,” CAAS said on July 10. “Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations are expected to increase in volume and sophistication, spanning numerous beneficial applications. In addition, eVTOL aircraft operations are expected to begin in the region within the next few years.”
The meeting is part of the first CAAS-hosted High-Level Aviation week, which concludes on July 19.
CAAS has also announced the launch of a sustainable aviation centre for the Asia-Pacific region.
