Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has commissioned ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH, to equip the “Defense System against Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” (ASUL) with kinetic weapons, according to in a press release published yesterday by BAAINBw on the European procurement platform TED.

According to the TED text:

“The object of the contract comprises procurement elements whereby the “Defence System against Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” (hereinafter ASUL) is to be enabled to combat small unmanned aerial systems (henceforth sUAS) by kinetic means (“extended system ASUL”) as part of an increase in combat performance. This should enable ASUL to detect sUAS at distances of up to 400m (for moving targets) and 800m (for static targets).
