UK national police service issues RFI for BVLOS drones to inform future usage

The UK National Police Air Service (NPAS) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) in relation to the acquisition of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) which can be operated beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to understand better the market and its available products and services.

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) is operated by West Yorkshire Police on behalf of the 43 police forces of England and Wales together with British Transport Police in those areas.

The NPAS is drawing up a roadmap which includes a feasibility and capability study on Uncrewed Aircraft, including platforms more significant than 25kg, either fixed wing, VTOL or rotary.

The NPAS is looking to test and trial a system that can deliver equivocal capability from a payload perspective with the intent of trials being operated BVLOS.
