Japanese ministries to discuss future AAM and UTM expansion

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), will hold the 12th Public-Private Council for the Air Mobility Revolution on March 27, to promote the expansion of flying car operations in Japan.

Among other topics, the meeting will review the Osaka-Kansai Expo, the Realisation of Advanced Air Mobility – or ReAMo – project, and discuss the results of recent air mobility surveys. ReAMo is a nationwide project led by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) that aims to achieve safe, efficient and energy-saving air mobility by developing the technologies necessary for advanced air mobility. This includes the development of methods for evaluating the performance of uncrewed aerial systems and urban air mobility, and the development of integrated traffic management for sharing airspace at low altitudes among new, emerging and existing aircraft.

Also on the agenda is a revision of the roadmap for the air mobility revolution and the operational concept of flying cars. Attendees will also discuss initiatives for the year ahead and introduce new members. The event will close with a Q&A session.

The event will begin at 13:30 local time on March 27 at METI’s auditorium, 1-3-1 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
