The Belgian’s Ministry of Defence has published a tender for a nationwide counter-UAS requirement “to establish a framework agreement in the domain of C‑UAS with a single candidate for a duration of 12 years, with an optional extension of three years. The objective is to develop a flexible and resilient partnership with a Belgian industrial anchoring in order to create strategic autonomy and ensure maximum protection in the field of C‑UAS.”
According to the tender documents:
“This agreement covers the delivery, installation, maintenance, further development, and innovation of multiple types of C‑UAS Systems of Systems (SoS). The system‑based approach is central to this effort, with priority given to innovation, quality, and flexibility The intended framework agreement comprises five main components:
- The development and delivery of high‑performance C‑UAS solutions for various applications throughout the entire duration of the framework agreement;
- Ensuring the availability of the C‑UAS capability at all times;
- Integrating and embedding the innovation aspect so that the proposed solutions can be continuously improved in light of evolving threats, deployment scenarios, and technologies;
- The ongoing continuation of Research & Technology (R&T) and Research & Development (R&D) through a collaborative form of cooperation with various economic and academic actors (university centres, the Defence laboratory, research institutions, etc.) in order to build the necessary knowledge for the further development of the C‑UAS capability;
