UK government issues new evaluations call for C-UAS equipment

The UK National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), working in partnership with government departments and operational end-users, is inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from manufacturers and suppliers wishing to participate in this year’s independent counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) equipment evaluations.

NPSA provides independent, operationally-informed evaluations of C-UAS capability. The programme is designed to support industry by accelerating product development, strengthening performance credibility and helping customers make informed procurement decisions.

The results from the evaluations help users of C-UAS systems understand performance under realistic conditions and support consistent, evidence-based procurement across government, policing, critical national infrastructure and the wider security community. Evaluation by NPSA is now a minimum requirement in UK Home Office procurement of C-UAS Technology.

NPSA says that vendors consistently report that participation also validates performance claims through trusted, independent assessment, highlights strengths and areas for improvement as well as strengthening conversations with UK and international customers seeking to procure C-UAS systems.

The authority is now welcoming interest from established C-UAS manufacturers providing detection, track and identification capabilities at technology readiness level 8 or above who are seeking to or have currently deployed C-UAS systems in live operating environments.

Successful applicants will deploy their system to a live NPSA test site; undergo controlled, measurable test scenarios based on an NPSA standard recognised across UK government; be included in NPSA’s Catalogue of Security Equipment and benefit from a detailed evaluation report (with permissions to use excerpts and quotes in customer conversations); and gain insight into operational requirements from expert government end-users.

EOI can be submitted by January 30, 2026. To register interest, interested parties should send an email containing their company details, product name and contact point to cuas@npsa.gov.uk.
