Republic of Korea selects five companies to shape national drone ecosystem

The Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) has designated five companies that it says have demonstrated “outstanding technological prowess and industrial contributions in the drone manufacturing and utilisation sectors”. The five companies are known as “2025 Drone Excellence Companies”. This is the first designation round since the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Promotion of Drone Utilisation and Infrastructure Development and the enactment of related notices in March 2025.

The application process began on June 30 and encompassed document screening, on-site evaluations and deliberation by the Evaluation Committee. Based on a comprehensive evaluation of business status, technological capabilities, application capabilities and safety management levels, two companies were selected for the manufacturing sector and three companies for the utilisation sector.

Ness & Tech Co., Ltd. and Argosdyne Co., Ltd. have been designated as excellent businesses in the drone hardware and software manufacturing sector. In the service sector, Nears Lab Co., Ltd., Systech Co., Ltd., and Marine Drone Technology Co., Ltd. received excellent evaluations.

  • Ness & Tech has developed flight control, ground control and navigation algorithms to increase the stability and reliability of domestic drone systems.
  • Argosdyne is developing a permanent drone operation system by securing technologies such as AI-based autonomous flight and precision landing.
  • Nears Lab provides an autonomous drone system for wind power safety inspections using AI-based deep learning technology.
  • Systech is developing large-scale flight and data processing technology that builds a single 3D model of the entire city, providing spatial information services for building a smart city infrastructure.
  • Marine Drone Technology provides a variety of integrated drone solutions across the maritime industry, including fish detection, maritime logistics delivery and marine pollution control.

The businesses will be issued certificates and certification marks, and various benefits will be provided, including bonus points when selected for drone commercialisation and overseas expansion support projects promoted by MOLIT.

“We expect these excellent businesses to serve as role models for the drone industry and lay a key foundation for strengthening K-drone technology and securing a leading position in the global market,” Kim Young-guk, Director General of Aviation Policy at MOLIT, stated. “We will continue to support the advancement of drone technology, commercialisation demonstrations, and regulatory improvements through the Excellent Business Designation System, thereby sparing no policy support to enable outstanding domestic drone companies to thrive in the global market.”
