The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAS) has today (October 28) reminded uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) operators that all UAS weighing above 250g must be equipped with Broadcast Remote Identification (B-RID) from December 1. Exceptions are made where the operator has been granted an Operator Permit and is using the FlyItSafe mobile application when operating the UAS, or where the UAS is operated indoors or in an enclosed environment.
CAAS first announced the regulation in November 2024.
“As of 15 October 2025, there were about 17,300 UAS registered with CAAS that were not equipped with in-built B-RID capability at the point of registration,” the authority said today. “CAAS has issued 6,300 free B-RID modules to those who have applied for them. Based on feedback from UAS owners, some may have installed their own B-RID modules while others may decide not to fly their unequipped UAS.”
Operating a UAS without meeting the B-RID requirement or intentionally broadcasting any remote identification information that is false or misleading is an offence. If convicted, a person may be fined, imprisoned or both.
