US Army awards USD 5 billion contract to Raytheon for Coyote system

Raytheon has been awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the US defence department for the Coyote system. Coyote is designed to defeat single drone threats as well as swarms. Paired with Raytheon’s Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor, or KuRFS radar, the system will also provide detection capabilities.

The contract, priced at USD 5 billion, covers fixed and mobile Coyote missile launchers, kinetic and non-kinetic interceptors, and KuRFS radars.

The defence department said bids were solicited via the internet with one received. The estimated completion date of the contract is September 28, 2033.

The US Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.
