Chinese media sources report that during rehearsals for the 2025 Changchun Air Show, two Xpeng Aeroht eVTOL vehicles were involved in a mid-air collision. One aircraft crashed and caught alight, while the other reportedly landed safely. At least one person aboard was injured, says the Aviation Safety Network.
“Two Xiaopeng Huitian eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing) collided at the Changchun Air Show, said the CCA new agency. “In response, Xiaopeng Huitian stated, “This afternoon (September 16th), following the conclusion of a rehearsal at the Changchun Air Show, two aircraft participating in a two-aircraft formation drill by Guangdong Huitian General Aviation came into contact due to insufficient clearance. One aircraft landed normally, while the other sustained damage and caught fire during landing. All personnel on-site are safe, and relevant departments have completed on-site disposal efforts in an orderly manner. The specific cause is under further investigation.”
In a statement to CNN, the company said the collision took place because of “insufficient spacing,” and one vehicle “sustained fuselage damage and caught fire upon landing.”
